Pumpkin Patch

The kids and I fit in our annual pumpkin patch visit last week when Jackie was out of school. It was a perfect day for it..a little chilly, but it actually felt like Fall!  This year, all three kids had a blast trying out the different activities....and I had fun just watching them!

Hayride to the pumpkin patch!

Photo taken by Jackie...at least she can point and shoot!

Wheeeeeeeeee!

Jackie and Gwen would have done this all day long.

A little corn playing time.

Yee Haw!

The Pumpkin Express is always a bit hit.   Last year, if you remember, I was crammed into one of those cars with Beau in the front carrier and Gwen on my lap.  This year, I might have suggested Gwen was old enough to do it on her own (even though she was supposed to be 4)...and I sat on the sidelines and watched with Beau.  There was no way I was going to attempt to get in one of those with both the kids again.  I get a little claustrophobic.

Big smiles!

"I like THIS one."

And now I will pick it up and throw it like a ball.  Beau picked up just about every pumpkin and threw it.

Gwen's perfect for her pumpkin.

A little bowling...a new addition to the pumpkin patch this year.

Sneak Peak

The kids had a Halloween Party at church last week, so they were able to give their costumes a test drive! Beau thought he was pretty slick in his golfer outfit and even left the hat on longer than I thought he would.  My cute, little Jack "e" Lantern...came up with her idea all by herself. Gwen was going to be a monkey up until about 2 hours before the party and then went with the kitten costume. Luckily we don't have a shortage of dress up things around here...so she can have her pick!

Moving Up

Beau has decided it was time to "move up" in the world. Which means, strategically sliding the chair to a certain drawer, climbing up on the chair, opening said drawer and pulling everything out of it...one thing at a time.   He now tries to climb pretty much anything.  The pantry shelves, the coffee table.  Many times I find him standing on top of the little table you see in the background and once I found him on top of the lamp table in the living room.  I'm just hoping this isn't a foreshadow to him climbing out of his crib anytime soon.

Gwen is also moving up in the world by doing some big girl things.  Below is a picture of her at a ceramic painting class.  She loves to paint and it's fun to see her concentrate so intently on what she is doing.  Of course, the picture below is of her goofy, I'm not going to look at you, grin.  In front of her sits her plate that she worked so hard on.  We added a hand print, with her name and year.

Mr. Big Shot

Beau has figured out how to climb up on the rocking chair now and sit down.  He thinks he is such a big shot.  I have to agree with him.

Something's Missing

Jackie got home from school on Friday and busted out of our neighbor's car saying, " I lost my tooth!" She was so excited! The funny thing was it wasn't even the tooth she had been working on the past couple of weeks, but the one right beside it.   Apparently she lost it during recess and got to go to the nurse's office, where she got a tooth holder and a bracelet for losing her tooth.

Here is a picture with her toothless smile...but if you look at the next picture, you will see she isn't really toothless!

Her two adult front teeth have actually grown in behind her baby teeth.

(Disclaimer:  Pictures like these actually kind of gross me out and I swore I would never post a picture of my child showing off her teeth or toothless grin...however, I have also learned to never say never.  And so here I am, posting gross pictures of my child's teeth!)

She wrote a note to the tooth fairy which reads, " Dear Tooth Fairy.  I am excited.  This is my first tooth.  From Jackie.  The pencil is for you.  (my thoughtful little girl:)  I somehow talked her into leaving her tooth in a glass of water (this is what I used to do when I was a kid).  Lucky for the tooth fairy this made it much easier for her to visit.

Very proud of her note!  And wouldn't you know it, on Saturday...the second tooth came out!  So the tooth fairy was very busy around our house this weekend!
