Trunk or Treat
Jackie's Preschool had a Trunk or Treat and Costume Parade today. We decided to join in the fun! I'm new to the whole "trunk or treat" concept, but I have to admit...it is a pretty cute idea. The school even came around with hot chocolate for the parents while we waited for the kids to parade outside in the costumes. Gwen even dressed up for the occasion...she is a woman of many costumes this year :) Below is how I decorated our "trunk" and by decorating it meant throwing some things in the back about 5 minutes before we left for school.
Below is a picture of Jackie's class all dressed up. Jackie was pretty excited to see us. She even gave me a "Thank you Mom, for my treats," when I passed them out to her. She's the white kitty, in case you didn't recognize her.
While Jackie finished off her morning at school, Gwen and I did a little decorating at home. I used the decor from the trunk and made it into a festive spider!

Bonding Over Popsicles
The other day, I let the girls finish off the last of the mini popsicles...it was a bonding experience. They both sat down next to each other in front of the refrigerator like old pals. I don't think Jackie got to experience the popsicle until about age two or after. Gwen is a little ahead of the game...if you say the word "popsicle," she'll go right to the freezer. She isn't about to get left out of anything.
In other news...Gwen turned 15 months yesterday! Today I took her in for her well check appointment. She weighs 21 lbs 5oz and is 31 inches tall. (That's 25th percentile and 75th percentile for all you percentile people out there!) It's been fun keeping track of the difference in the girls growth charts. Ok, I know...that sounded really nerdy. We also lined up for some flu shots today. The girls and I, both. I think the nurses kinda thought I was crazy...they kept asking me what order I wanted it done in. I think they were trying to figure out how I was going to console both crying kids at the same time. So was I, actually. Luckily they are fast and by the time we left the room...crying was already over. Now we will stay "healthy and well," as Jackie puts it...for the winter. Ha, I wish it were that easy!

Pumpkin Patching and More
This weekend was "get in all the Fall activities that you can" weekend! On Friday we met up with some other moms and kiddos and had a blast exploring one of the local pumpkin patches. Then on Saturday we attended a Halloween party at our church. Both the girls had a fun and exciting weekend and I know of a certain 3 yr old who is really looking forward to the real deal Halloween night!

A Visit to the Dentist
This might be one of those pictures Jackie will despise me for later in life...but the dental hygienist wasn't letting me out of there without taking a picture of Jackie's first visit to the dentist. It just happened to be when she was getting a fluoride treatment and she couldn't exactly smile! Jackie was a perfect patient! They raved about how good she did sitting in the chair, spitting into the straw and opening up big and wide. The best part..no cavities! Oh yes, and I guess picking out a Princess Tiana toothbrush and a token for the vending machine was pretty good too!

October Red
It's October. John and Jackie both wore red to church the other day. Here's a picture of it. The End.

Fall
It has been one of the nicest Fall seasons I can remember. We have yet to bust out the jackets and we are still sporting flip-flops! We enjoyed a little backyard picnic and some good ol' fashioned leaf jumping the other day. Enjoy the pictures. Happy Friday!

Home Grown
My parents visited this past week and blessed us with the bounties of their garden. Pumpkins, potatoes, squash, carrots, green beans, asparagus, corn, apples and watermelon. There is nothing like having the farmer's market come right to your door...with good company of course!
The girls were most excited about the pumpkins! Even the neighbor girl got in the mix below...
While they were visiting we made a trip to our "Farm" at Deanna Rose. Jackie poses with the "nice" witch standing at the entrance into the farm.
Jackie also had the opportunity to feed a baby calf.
Here she is with grandma, pumping some water the old fashioned way.
We enjoyed having grandma and grandpa here. Gwen even gave them a few snuggles, which made their day!
We fall-ified our house a little with this project. We scooped out pumpkins and placed some small mums inside. The girls had a blast taking out the "goo" with grandma.
Thanks grandma and grandpa for visiting and bringing some of your "home grown" with you!

What She's Up To
Oh Gwen. Her little personality has budded once again lately. Her new obsession is crawling into things. This is her sitting in the puzzle bin. She thinks she's pretty cool for being able to climb in here.
And, again...in the puzzles. She has become quite funny. Her smile cracks me up alone...maybe it's those two top front teeth. (Don't worry sweetie, the Dr. says they'll push together). I once asked Jackie how Gwen became so funny...Jackie says, "From me." I asked Jackie where she got so funny...she says, "From Daddy." I think she's probably right on!
Gwen is really getting into books lately. She likes to sit and "read" them. Look, she can even read them upside down...talent, pure talent ;)
Big sister shared a powdered donut with her. I guess this is only fitting, as I believe I had a big sister who shared a powdered donut with me when I was a baby. I don't think I was eating solid foods quite yet though!
Baby jail. Actually, this gate is pretty much pointless. Gwen climbs the other side of the stairs (we have a split-staircase) and comes down this side and is stuck. Above she is signing "more" as she wants me to take more pictures. HA!
Baby jail is more fun with big sister!

Before and After
This was our yard last fall. We blame it on sleep deprivation and just lack of energy to take care of it.
This is our yard today! After lots of blood, sweat and tears...(ok, maybe not really blood and tears, just sweat and $$), we have our yard mostly back. This was definitely the year of the yard. We added the swing set, playhouse, fire pit, a garden and oh yes...grass, beautiful green grass!
